Find Your Practice in Amherst, Nova Scotia
We pride ourselves on having a friendly and supportive medical staff. There are just over 50 physicians in the county and we meet monthly for Grand Rounds and get together every season for a party. The community is small enough that you can carve out the practice you want, whether inpatient, outpatient or procedural. You can use all your skills, and enjoy the services of very robust and collegial basic specialty services. We are home to several nearby family practices, a 24 hour regional ER, ICU, general surgery, ENT, anesthesia, obstetrics and gynecology, radiology, psychiatry, ophthalmology and pediatric dentistry. Amherst hosts 2-3 North Nova residents per year, for the duration of their family medicine residency, in addition to training rotating residents and medical students. Most staff are Dalhousie faculty members.
